Who We Are

Craig Schweikhard - Executive Director

Craig Schweikhard is the Executive Director of SMCSIG. Craig received a Bachelor’s Degree from Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo in Political Science, and a Masters in Business from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. Craig also holds an Associate in Risk Management (ARM-P) and has 30 years’ experience working in public entity claims and risk management working with third party claims administrators and public entity pools throughout the state.

Sharon Vishwa – Deputy Executive Director

Sharon has been with SMCSIG since 1996. She has 20+ years of experience in assisting the Property/Liability Claims Manager in handling property and liability claims. Currently Sharon supports the Executive Director. Sharon is responsible for managing benefit programs for members, owner controlled construction program, conducting customer satisfaction surveys, creating and disseminating communications to members and supporting JPA board functions. Sharon serves as in-house finance manager and is responsible for human resource functions related to SMCSIG staff and maintains vendor relations. Sharon has a Master's in Public Administration with a concentration on Public Affairs from Notre Dame de Namur University.

Tasha Lane - Senior Property/Liability Claims Analyst

Tasha Lane is the Senior Property/ Liability Claims Analyst for SMCSIG. She brings a broad range of experience handling claims for more than 25 years in the private sector. She has expertise in handling, property/ liability losses, commercial and catastrophe claims. Tasha is responsible for investigating and evaluating property/liability claims, assessing coverage, collaborating with outside counsel on litigated files & compiling reports for board member action. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Eastern Michigan University. She is a Bay Area native and attended public school within our member district community. In her spare time, she is a volunteer talk-show host for public access T.V.

Tom Ledda - Senior Loss Control Analyst

Tom Ledda is the Senior Loss Control Analyst for SMCSIG. Tom’s main focus will be to partner with our member districts and the County Office of Education to conduct safety inspections of at least 50% of member owned buildings each year. Tom's duties include working with districts to hold regular safety committees, review building systems to help advise on maintenance issues that can ultimately result in property losses, and also conduct playground inspections. Tom’s initial primary focus will be to help reduce property losses from mold and water inundation. Tom spent over 30 years running his own plumbing business. He most recently was the Director of Maintenance, Operations and Transportation at Brisbane School District. He also has served as a school board member and continues to serve as baseball coach for San Francisco City College.

Sherrill Ernest – Administrative Specialist

Sherrill Ernest is the Administrative Specialist for SMCSIG. Her duties consist of setting up claim files and issuing payments in the Property/Liability Claims Program, assisting the public and member districts with Certificate of Insurance request, subrogations, comprehensive and collision coverage, handling minor vehicle accidents, conducting court searches, obtaining police reports, processing incoming and outgoing correspondence of highly confidential documents, and assisting SMCSIG staff. She also performs a variety of routine clerical work including reception duties, photocopying, filing, sorting and distribution of mail.

Raya Estares - Loss Control Analyst

Raya Estares is the Loss Control Analyst for SMCSIG. Raya supports the Workers Compensation Manager and Senior Loss Control Specialist. She is responsible for conducting facility and playground inspections at over 80 sites each year, help school district members respond to OSHA citations, and works with all levels of school personnel on safety issues. Raya also generates inspection reports, arranges training schedules, and tracks loss control activity compliance for each member district's loss control program. Raya graduated from UC Riverside with a bachelor's degree in Economics. She comes to us from the private sector with a background in forensic economic research.
